Birgitte Lutfy

A native of Denmark, Birgitte learned to design and sew her own clothing at a young age. Her interest in design later expanded into closet systems, landscape design, woodworking, metalwork, and fused-glass art.

After moving to Durango, she became a certified master gardener and worked as a designer for ClosetsPlus. After five years in design, she became interested in metalwork and taught herself to plasma cut and weld, soon creating distinctive metal sculptures.

She later developed an interest in fused glass, combining glass and steel with new and recycled materials to create free-flowing, organic artworks. Her work is displayed at her studio and outdoor garden gallery in Durango’s Animas Valley.
